Pune: GreenPro Summit 2026 concluded its ninth edition by bringing together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, sustainability experts, manufacturers and green product innovators to discuss how green products can accelerate India’s transition towards low-carbon, resource-efficient and circular value chains.
Organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Green Products and Services (GreenPro) Council, the two-day summit was held under the theme “Green Products Driving Decarbonisation in Value Chains.”
Held at The Westin, Pune, GreenPro Summit 2026 served as a national platform to showcase how green products, sustainable manufacturing practices and collaborative partnerships can reduce embodied carbon while supporting India’s journey towards achieving its Net Zero ambitions.
The first day of GreenPro Summit 2026 focused on sustainable procurement, green product certification, lifecycle thinking and responsible manufacturing.
Discussions covered decarbonisation across the automotive supply chain, net zero and resource-positive buildings, global mechanisms to accelerate manufacturing decarbonisation, and reducing emissions across the value chain – from raw material sourcing and product design to logistics, construction, consumption and end-of-life management.
The inaugural session was attended by Deepak Govindrao Mhaisekar, Chairman, State Environment Impact Assessment Authority, Government of Maharashtra; Kamal Bali, Chairman, Green Products and Services Council and President & Managing Director, Volvo Group India Pvt Limited; Milon K Nag, Deputy Chairman, CII Western Region and Chairman & Managing Director, K K Nag Pvt Ltd; Dr. Poorva Keskar, Director, Vke Environmental; K S Venkatagiri, Chair, Global Ecolabelling Network and Executive Director, CII GBC; and S Karthikeyan, Executive Director, IGBC, GreenPro & CII CIES.

As part of GreenPro Summit 2026, leadership recognition was presented to TVS Motor Company for excellence in green supply chain management among OEMs.
Brakes India Private Limited Foundry Division and Lumax Industries Limited were also recognised as green champions in supply chain management.
The summit additionally witnessed the launch of the “Decarbonisation of the Kolhapur Foundry Cluster – A GreenPro Initiative Report,” highlighting the foundry sector’s collective efforts towards sustainable manufacturing.
Delivering the keynote address, Deepak Govindrao Mhaisekar, Chairman, State Environment Impact Assessment Authority, Government of Maharashtra, said: “Development and sustainability must go hand in hand. As a nation, and indeed as the global community, we cannot stop development—we must ensure that it is pursued responsibly and sustainably.
Our sustainability journey has evolved significantly, from simple initiatives such as tree plantation to new generation mechanisms like carbon trading, and lifecycle-based environmental management. India has immense potential to achieve carbon neutrality through multiple pathways, with energy efficiency being one of the most impactful.
As industries continue to innovate, products themselves will increasingly become carbon neutral, and by 2035 we are likely to witness a transition from a purely economic perspective to a carbon-conscious economy. I commend CII GreenPro for putting together such a platform for discussion and am confident that the deliberations over these two days will bring in action for the nation.”
Speaking at GreenPro Summit 2026, Kamal Bali, Chairman, Green Products and Services Council, said: “The world is witnessing multiple transformative shifts, and one of the most defining among them is the ecological and environmental transition. The choices we make today—in the products we design, the technologies we adopt and the partnerships we build—will determine the competitiveness and resilience of industries in the future.

Providing a global perspective during GreenPro Summit 2026, K S Venkatagiri, Chair, Global Ecolabelling Network and Executive Director, CII GBC, said: “Sustainability is rapidly becoming a defining business imperative rather than a compliance requirement.
Customers, investors and global supply chains increasingly expect products with lower environmental footprints and greater transparency. Indian manufacturers have a tremendous opportunity to position themselves as global leaders by embedding sustainability into product development, procurement and manufacturing.
Green value chains will not only reduce emissions but also enhance innovation, resilience and long-term business growth. Manufacturers adopting sustainability today, have access to the larger global markets.”

The journey towards credible decarbonisation begins with understanding where we stand, and lifecycle assessment provides the foundation for measuring environmental impacts and identifying opportunities for improvement. Today, GreenPro has certified over 15,800 eco-labelled products from more than 810 companies across 54 product categories, reflecting the growing commitment of Indian industry towards sustainable manufacturing.
As markets increasingly prioritise transparency and environmental performance, we are confident that the adoption of GreenPro-certified products will continue to grow, strengthening India’s leadership in low-carbon manufacturing and sustainable value chains.”
GreenPro Summit 2026 concluded by reaffirming that green products are emerging as a cornerstone of India’s decarbonisation strategy, enabling industries to reduce emissions across value chains while creating long-term economic, environmental and social value.
The summit ended with a call for stronger collaboration among policymakers, manufacturers, technology providers, academia and consumers to accelerate the adoption of certified green products and strengthen India’s position in sustainable manufacturing and climate-responsive value chains.
